  • World Cup 2018.

Whats everyone's opinion so far, I am hopeful lol but thats an Englishmans hope lol.

Must say, for all the talk about how new players coming into this comp will see and feel another level, i would disagree, the quality overall is poor and below Champions league level.

COME ON ENGLAND!!! Not the greatest display of football so far but we got there in the end.

Generally I feel VAR has been a good addition to the game, some dubious tackles not going punished though so definitely needs work. I've felt overall that in all England games, the opposition have just been out to destroy every part of us, using whatever method they can use.

The amount of diving has been pretty horrendous, these guys go down like flies and act like they just got mauled by a lion. Looking at you Neymar...

Currently I think its going to be a France or Brazil world cup. If we win the next match, it might give me hope we can go all the way!

I do not follow football, only watch the world cup. I have watched the boys play and have to say, win or lose, i'm proud of them. It is nice to watch a world cup and have a little hope for a change. I have never swore so much at a tv screen before, with the other teams diving and the elbows and head butting….. the columbian coach elbowing sterling!!! Just nice to enjoy a cold drink in beautiful weather and still have a team in the competition.

Yes, this team are playing with less expectation than the so called golden generation.. Amazing what happens when you have less pressure applied.

Soo Brazil have gone home. Some WC this is turning out to be. Neymar is a disgrace, the amount of pathetic diving he has done this WC has ruined it for his team.

I'm looking forward to our game later today but I'm not full of confidence. When you consider that most of our goals have come from the spot kick, it really doesn't look good. Unless we get another penalty it doesn't look like we will break anyone down to score.

Now I'm feeling confident. This could very well be a great opportunity and I hope we take it. Should we fail in the next match, I'm really proud of what they achieved and the joy they have given this country.

That’s what’s wonderful about the England team no pre-Madonna’s and so on.

I’m not sure of the result against Croatia, we should be team but it will be a hard game. Brazil should have beaten Belgium and we all know what happened there.

I knew it. Score a goal and sit back, we should have had a few shots in the back of the net. It's been amazing seeing us get this far though, as we can only score from the spot or set pieces. If we had won, France would have destroyed us.

                      Ok here is some feedback

Yes i'm English and unlike some of the scum that let us down and give us a bad name, I'm proud to be English, so perhaps my summary is warped and one sided, I would be interested in other peoples opinions.

So we go to the Semi finals

That in itself is a miracle - or is it?

                      Here is my point

Spurs is my team, who on the team are always quoted as the main players?

                      Kane, Ericksen, Ali?

Not Alderverald, Dembele, Vertongen (Excuse Spellings lol)

But fast forward to a worldcup, all of a sudden these three are cast in to world class status by our pundits, is this a form of self defeatism? We seem to have this issue, either its coming home or we are crap lol, no middle ground. I'm sure other countries are similar, Brazil and Germany for instance..

                      So what am I saying?

I guess, in simple terms, I think we ended up where we should, we are a top 6 footy nation, have been even in the shite years, just stupid managers making Kane take corners and so on. To me Belguim was the best team in the World Cup, again a team won in by playing defensive counter attacking football, last two comps (euros) won by good teams but not the best, I actually think we would beat France. (easy to say i know)

The future is bright, but thats the same for most of the big nations, that won't change, in the words of Klinnsmann, "England are cleaning up at youth level, thats sending huge signals in world football", this is a huge chance, many young Enlglish players going to be European clubs over recent months, this will pay dividends for Welsh, Scottish and Irish Youth players as well.

I hope its not a false dawn, I hope all the English scum stay away, let us decent English supporters be proud, let us believe, not be accused of being big headed, becasue no one throws that at Brazil and they behave like they will always win, just because they have won it five times gives them more right than anyone..

See, I wouldn't say it is was. I would say we should have got to that stage in this tournament. Can you imagine if we came up against Argentina, Portugal, Belgium (these I believe we did and we still lost), France or even Brazil any earlier? We wouldn't have got to that stage. We can't score from open play and that is horrible for any team to deal with. Then we vs a semi decent side and we go home.

We would be Argentina or Portugal. Both are one man teams essentially, obviously anyone can beat anyone in any given day but I’d say we are stronger than those two currently and probably for the forceable future. Belgium on the other hand are currently in my opinion the best team in football.
